You plan an event, attract attendees, invite speakers, and choose the venue.

Consider the demographics of your target audience and make sure they’re compatible with your sponsor’s brand. This will help you secure your sponsor.
Your sponsor will also be concerned about the media coverage that your event will be receiving. The main concern of the company when buying sponsorship is to get as many eyes of their prospective clients on their brand and products and increase their brand awareness.
4. Research before sending queries:
Before asking a sponsor to join your event, conduct research about that sponsor, their missions statement, and brand details.
There are many potential sponsors out there with a large marketing budget that need to market as much as they can, i.e. through public relations, direct marketing, maintaining good community relationships, etc. Start-ups are also good prospects as they aim to gain much of the market share as well as increase their clientele.
Make sure to contact those who have your attendees as their target market. They will see the benefit of sponsoring you and attracting your attendees.
5. Conduct a discovery session:
After making a list of your prospective sponsors, call each one to tell them about your event. Some companies may have a person who deals with sponsorship decisions. Convey to them all the required information regarding your event so that they can make their sponsorship decision.
Hold discovery meetings with them to learn about their concerns and needs when considering sponsoring an event.
6. Send a written proposal:
When you want to pursue your sponsor, write them a written proposal that highlights the important information in which your sponsor may be interested. This may include:
- Number of impressions they will be receiving
- Demographics of your attendees
- Media coverage that you will be receiving etc.
These can act as a perfect call-to-action if they want to sponsor you.
